Ash Wednesday, February 17th, Noon and 7:00pm in the Sanctuary (no dinner or class)

Using the historic elements of the Imposition of Ashes and Holy Communion, we begin the season of Lent with an introduction of the five disciplines that will be our congregational focus.

Midweek Lenten Services (February 17th - March 17th)

First Sunday in Lent, February 21st, and Wednesday,* February 24th: Prayer
What is prayer? With the disciples we ask Jesus, “Lord, teach us to pray.”

Second Sunday in Lent, February 28th, and Wednesday,* March 3rd: Fasting
Why should I fast? Why should I deny myself anything?

Third Sunday in Lent, March 7th, and Wednesday,* March 10th: Lectio Divina
Lectio Divina is a prayerful, devotional way of reading Scripture while listening for the voice of God.

Fourth Sunday in Lent, March 14, and Wednesday,* March 17: Sabbath
God our Creator built Sabbath into the very fabric of Creation and intended Sabbath to be an integral part of human life. What is Sabbath? How do we live a Sabbath lifestyle?

Fifth Sunday in Lent, March 21st, and Wednesday,* March 24th: Journaling
Journaling? What’s that? Journaling is a way to learn more about God, yourself, and the world we live in.

*Each Wednesday in Lent:
5:30pm to 6:15pm  Dinner
6:30pm to 7:00pm  Holden Evening Prayer in the Sanctuary
7:00pm to 7:45pm  Educational/Experiential Component for all ages

Pastor Allen, Pastor Adam and I are very excited about this year’s Lenten journey. We are looking forward to sharing our respective contributions to this series, as we experience the great wealth of resources for spiritual growth found in our faith.

Pastor Roger
