December 2022 Council Highlights
The monthly meeting of Hope Lutheran’s Church Council was hybrid, held Tuesday, December 20, 2022 in Hope’s conference room.
Hope has been through a difficult Mission Plan (budget) process in recent weeks. Budget cuts ultimately affected some of our staff members more than others, making them feel less valued and causing real hurt. The council and finance team are sincerely sorry. We pledge a more transparent and better communicated Mission Plan process in future, beginning in January, and encourage involvement from all facets of the congregation.
The Call Team is nearly done with a survey for which the team needs full congregation participation. Look for the survey to come out in January. Be sure to fill it out because your voice matters! The survey will ultimately help the team draft Hope’s Mission Purpose and Direction for the Ministry Site Profile.
The Welcome Team intends to make phone calls to members we haven’t seen in a while, starting in January. If you would like to help make phone calls to welcome people back to Hope, please contact Ed Nelson.
The intergenerational Christmas pageant, “Do Not Be Afraid”, at the 11 a.m. service on Sunday, December 18th was thoroughly enjoyed by all present. Thank you to all the participants and to Christa Slater and Sam Garcia for their direction!
Hope’s Music Ministry’s concert, “In Judah’s Land”, the evening of December 18th succeeded beautifully in filling the hearts of those present with the spirit of Christmas. Thank you to all the musicians, Learning Tree children, and Rachael Groeneweg for a fabulous evening that welcomed many in our surrounding community to Hope.
Save the dates!
Christmas Eve services 4:00 and 6:30 p.m.
No service on Christmas Sunday. There will be a rebroadcast of the Christmas Eve service online instead as we gift Christmas Sunday to our pastor, staff, and volunteers.
New Year’s Sunday – one hymn sing service at 10:00 a.m.
Date change – Jazz Mass will be on Sunday, January 8, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. in light of the New Year’s holiday
Please note: We are moving to one combined service at 9:30 a.m. as of Sunday, January 8, 2023! This will help Hope steward resources more effectively, and help congregation members get to know each other better.
Please also note: The church office has moved to a 4-day work week as of Monday, November 28, 2022 to save on costs and volunteers. Office hours are 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
Next church council meeting is hybrid, Hope Lutheran conference room, Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at 7 p.m.
Respectfully submitted 12/22/22,
Amanda Berryhill, Council Secretary
